Data Recovery
Alaska Computer Support can retrieve data from most unreadable drives. In fact, if we can’t recover your data, you don’t pay! Give us a call as soon as you have a problem! Data recovery can be time sensitive!
The best way to keep your data is to avoid data loss in the first place:
Back up your data
- Verify your backups on a regular schedule, and keep a verified copy in a safe place away from your place of business, such as in a safety deposit box. We can help you setup and/or verify your backups.
- If your equipment makes any unusual noise, even if it doesn’t sound serious, turn it off immediately and call us for support. Audible sounds coming from your computer often mean a piece of hardware is failing. Better safe than sorry.
- Be sure your anti-virus is up-to-date and that automatic updates are in place.
- For on-site protection against blackouts and power spikes, install a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply). Our experienced consultants will be glad to help you determine the right equipment for your needs.
- Coming in from the cold? Let your equipment come to room temperature before booting it up.
- Before you upgrade any components, be certain your data has been both backed up and verified.
- When a drive is operating, it is vulnerable. Don’t move or jar your instrument during this time.
- Be certain you have enough physical space for your computer equipment to “breathe.” Allow for circulation, and watch for over-heating.
- Keep your equipment clean by following a recommended cleaning schedule. Dust is a drive killer.
